Partitions

A contiguous segment of on-disk data, described in a partition table (like GUID Partition Table (GPT))).md) or Master Boot Record (MBR))).md))

Data inside it is arranged according to its Filesystem (aka its formatting)

Note that some storage mediums (e.g a floppy disk) are non-partitionable; as such, the entire disk can be considered one single partition
